Understanding the social context in impact of stress and competencies on teachers performance

Abstract

Stress is categorically a vast term by level higher impact; conversely this can be dealt with small changes that we bring in our day to day life. Stress is always seen as subjective process and encompasses individual’s personal analysis and counter to a threatening event. Mostly, people have a collective mentality that hassle is merely instigated by a sad happening, but the truth is that stress can occur through a good experience as well. As far as stress for students are concerned, there are plenty of reasons which can cause stress in a student’s life, some of these are; mismatch between the student and the teacher which can raise tension and cause stress. This study deals with the conceptual framework of the teacher’s stress, performance of teacher’s, teacher’s competencies and the ways to manage stress. It also presents review of literature on the topic. A survey of 130 teachers of the institute carried out to assess the job related, organisation related, individual related and physiological reactions to stress and its effect on their performance and competencies. The research outcomes provide additional knowledge to the existing literature, enhance academicians’ understanding of the research topic, and serve as a significant knowledgebase for further empirical research.
