Abstract

Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, a great man, endowed with several qualities is known to all Indians very well. He experimented with truth through out of his life. His contribution and expert lead to set India free is beyond expression in words rather it is a matter of realization. In this article his educational and philosophical approach is focused. In his view real education brings the happiness in life of human beings. Education should be employment oriented. Until education provides employment, it is incomplete. It signifies his conceptual frame work of ‘Basic Education’. He was prone to women's education as it was critical at that time. He advocated women's education ever. He felt that teacher is the maker of a child as he plays vital role in the class room as well outside the class. The all round development of child should the focus of educational fraternity. Gandhiji's thoughts and philosophy regarding the duties of teacher and students are of prime concern till date today. Gandhiji's philosophy of education still can provide an effective Education system to our nation ‘India’.
