Out of all Indian philosophies six philosophies (Shath Darshanas) are known as Aastik Darshanas. These Shath Darshanas are named as Nayaya, Vashesik, Yoga, Mimansa, Vedanta,Sankhya.
‘Yaga Darshana’ is one of the specific characteristic of India. Yoga Darshan is the practical aspect of ‘Sankhya Darshsna’. There is ‘Tantva Chintan’ in Sankhya Darshana while for attainment of Moksha (salvation), the path of Sadhna (Meditation) practice has been focused in Yoga Darshana. The founder of Yoga Darshana is Maharishi Patanjali (B.C. second century). His scripture ‘Yoga Sutra’ is the base of this philosophy. The main objective of Yoga Sutras is to develop such attitude towards meditation practice through which one can achieve the ultimate goal of salvation and also can set oneself free from boundaries of Karma. Since, Yoga has become a practical Darshana rather than the real spiritual thought process. In this article, the characteristics of yoga Darshanas been analyzed in reference to real life aspects.
