The article covers the whole gamut of India's tryst with nuclear science. It includes India's nuclear doctrine (within its scope), the political support and opposition to India's journey towards nuclear self-sufficiency in civilian nuclear use and also development of India's Nuclear weapons arsenal. It talks about the nuclear capabilities of India, nuclear facilities, reactors and nuclear delivery capabilities; India's espousal and advocacy of the loftier ideal of nuclear disarmament and its efforts to promote global peace and harmony.
The discussion points includes regional security scenario and nuclear capabilities of our not so friendly neighbors, the Indo-US Nuclear deal and its long term implications for the bilateral Indo-US relations. the vicissitudes and vagaries of India's nuclear odyssey, nuclear policy and various factors which have constantly interplayed among themselves to shape and evolve the nuclear policy in its present Avtar.
