Indian society is patriarchal since ages. In this male dominated society women were not in a position to wield power due to social, economic and educational backwardness. In the domain of family father or males hold authority over the women and male holds primary power. But now their position is changing drastically due to education in general and higher education in particular. With the changing times they are adopting modern values along with traditional. In this backdrop present paper is an attempt to analyze the effect of higher education on women which is based on the study of village Kotwa situated in district Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh.
