Abstract

In the history of modern Hindi poetry, post 1970 poetry is known as contemporary poetry. The most important feature of this poetry is its inherent democratic consciousness which has emerged from the strict capitalist outlook which was materialistic and object oriented. This explains the interrelationship between life and society and analyses economic development & scientific progress from the viewpoint of human benefits. With this backdrop present paper is an attempt to analyze the direction of contemporary poetry. In the era of consumerism where women have been portrayed as a commodity the responsible poets have tried to show the intellectual being of women establishing her identity in modern times.
