Climate change is one of the biggest challenges which the 21st century is facing. It is an issue which threatens the survival of human being. This is so because the effects of climate change are multidimensional and are affecting the very basic requirements of the human being; agriculture is one of those. Agriculture and its pattern are to be severely affected by the climate change as rainwater, groundwater and irrigation pattern all are set to drastically change once the climate change starts displaying its effects in a mighty manner. It is not so that presently things are not changing but the situation is set to get worsened. The sugarcane farming which owes its origin to India will also be affected as it is heavily dependent upon water and then the sugar industries will be hit too as the sugarcane is the raw material for this industry. Delayed Monsoons, below average rainfall, increasing frequency of Al-Nino etc. are clarion calls. This paper is a study of the possible challenges posed by the climate change to the sugarcane farming and explores the feasibility of the steps that can be taken to take on this challenge.
