Abstract

E-governance is a global phenomenon in the globalised world. E-governance is being used in multiple sectors like commerce, trade, education, internal and external security and as well as healthcare. Healthcare facilities using e-governance is a quite progressive step in this regard and in the Indian context, it has made it possible to provide health care facilities to remote areas. This paper discusses the steps taken in the direction of providing healthcare facilities to masses using e-governance tools. There is number of initiatives taken by the Union government and as well as several state governments for this purpose. Ranging from mobile applications to ambulance facilities on dialling a number, schemes are being run successfully. But there are challenges too which need to be addressed e.g. poor penetration of internet services, underdeveloped infrastructure etc. This research article is an analysis of these aspects and tries to suggest some remedial measures too.
