The recent happenings in the rural-agrarian politics of India which started from Mandsaur of Madhya Pradesh and sooner turned into nationwide protests of farmers are set to add a new chapter in the book of India's agrarian politics. The recent happenings are just a prologue to the broader upcoming. The recent trend of the agrarian politics in India is quite different from its earlier versions of the late 80s or 90s. For the first time, different fronts and ideological organizations of farmers have agreed to come together to fight for their rights. It has certainly disappointed those who were forecasting the demise of agrarian politics in the panorama of Indian politics. This paper aims to analyze the causes, pattern and other dimensions of these neo-agrarian movements as these movements are an attempt to save agriculture as well as the rural society at a time when everyone has surrendered before the forces of the market.
