Contraceptive drugs are being used most widely in both human and veterinary medicine to prevent unwanted pregnancy. In the present investigation a total of 10 bitches screened for confirmation of mating. Bitches coming to the TVCC with the history of bleeding form vagina were included under the present investigation. The bitches were treated with herbal ayurvedic contraceptive pill (containing Tinospora cordifolia, Bambusa arundinacea, Chloride of sodium, Berberis aristata and Ricinus comunis) @ 1 pill orally, once at the end of bleeding period (proestrous). Out of 10, 6 bitches found positive for mating. These bictehs were studied to see the clinical side effects, haemato-biochemical changes on day 0 (BT) and 30 (AT) and for evaluation of drug regimen. No side effects were recorded following post treatment. On day 30 (AT) all haemato-biochemical parameters recorded in normal range ESR, which was increased in pregnant bitch. TLC exhibited a marked decreased on day 30 (AT) with lymphocytosis in pregnant bitch. On day 30 (AT) in sonography, it was recorded that out of 6 bitches only 1 bitch was found positive for pregnancy, while, 5 others found negative for pregnancy. Hence, it can be postulated that drug is 83.33% effective as contraceptive.
