The Indian Ecological Society publishes its official organ “Indian Journal of Ecology” a leading ecology research journal. The journal publishes original research papers on basic and applied aspects of ecology, viz., human ecology, environmental pollution, agro ecosystems, and aquatic, grassland and forest ecosystems. The journal is a focus and strength for our society. The journal is published bi-annually in June and December. This is one of the scientific journals in India, which is up to date and published in time. The journal also publishes the abstracts of the papers presented in zonal meetings. The presidential addresses and award lectures delivered during the annual meetings, are published as review. The Society has developed a strict system for the review of manuscripts and discourages the publications of manuscripts without any relevance to the subject of Ecology.

Aims and Scope
The Indian Journal Ecology is official publication of Indian Ecological Society being published since 1974 to fulfil the main objective of society. The main theme are
Land and Water Resources: Land resource management and land use planning, water management, management of problematic soils, soil and water conservation, watershed management, water saving technologies, crop diversification, rainfed/dryland farming, weed management, development of integrated farming systems, organic farming, resource conservation technologies, traditional ecological knowledge, people's movements in soil - water - development paradigm, technology transfer and impact.
Crop Environment Interactions: Adaptation to changing climate and resilience enhancement, diversification and mitigation through climate smart agriculture, vegetation-atmosphere exchange ofgreen house gases,sustainability of environmental resources, biodiversity conservation and its rational use, crop environment interaction assessment using advanced technologies, shift in the manifestation of insect pests and diseases, improved weather and climate services, ICT enabled early warning systems.
Integrated Nutrient Management: Soil health and nutrition, crop and efficient nutrient management practices, crop residue management, management of pollutants in soil.
Integrated Pest Management: Protection technologies for horticultural and field crops, ecological basis of insect pest/disease management, impact on ecosystem and environment, pesticide residue, spray technology, insect biodiversity, useful insects, IPM programmes and their impact.
Horticulture Crops: Genetic resource management in fruit and vegetable crops; vegetative propagating techniques; protected cultivation; intensive production technologies for higher productivity in horticultural crops; climate change mitigation; pre & post-harvest handling and value addition; good agricultural practiesin horticultural crops; socio-economic impact of National Horticulture Mission.
Forestry Tree Plantations: Economic, social and ecological valuation, natural resource management,climate change mitigation, biomass energy, tree health and protection, trees outside forests - adoption and management, wood products and composites, eco-tourism, policy, education and training.
Eco-responsive Livestock and Fisheries Production: Integrated crop-livestock husbandry for optimum natural resource utilization, environmentally resilient livestock and fisheries management, water economy of livestock operations, health and production interventions for sustenance of fish production, conservation and management of aquatic resources, aquaculture in degraded lands,aquaculture impact on environment, livestock and fisheries for livelihood generation and socio-economic development

Guidelines
Original research papers concerned with various fields of ecology, both basic and applied, are accepted from the members of the society if considered suitable by peer reviewers and the Editorial Board. It is presumed that the articles submitted for publication to Indian Journal of Ecology have not been previously and will not be simultaneously submitted and published in any other journal.
Manuscripts of full papers should be prepared under the following headings: Title, Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion and References. Short notes should have no headings and abstract.
The manuscript should be uploaded at web site for consideration and status Each MS must have names of three reviewers from institute other than place of work with email ID. Membership of all authors is mandatory.
The manuscript should be in Times New Roman with font size 12.
Title must be short and specific. The byline should comprise name(s) of author(s), complete postal address and e-mail address. Title page must also include a running title.
Abstract must be self-explanatory and should include the objectives, methodology, important points in the results and a conclusion. It should not, in any case, exceed 200 words. The authors should also suggest up to 5 key words below the abstract.
Introduction should be brief and include justification for undertaking the investigation and a short review of earlier work. Key references related to the work must be cited. Must be within one page. Avoid information not related to study conducted. Include 2-3 recent references.
Material and Methods should be clear and concise. This section can be subtitled for clarity. Provide reference to for standard methods used.
Results should be written concisely in a logical order. All data must invariably be given in metric and decimal system. Data presented in figures should not be duplicated in tables and vice versa. All figures and tables should be cited in text and should have concise and self-explanatory headings. The results should be based on statistical analysis with minimum data.
Discussion should be oriented towards explaining the significance and implications of the results obtained and should be well connected with the previous work in this direction. The related papers published in Indian J Ecology must be cited. See Journal Contents link.
Results and Discussion section may preferably be combined to avoid repetition.
References should be arranged alphabetically by the name of the first author and then by the second and third authors as necessary. Scientific Periodicals should not be abbreviated. Cite the full title of journal. Citation should follow the following pattern

The citation of reference in the text should be as Dhawan and Chauchan (1985) or (Dhawan and Chauchan 1985), Sharma et al (1991) or (Sharma et al 1991) depending on composition of the sentence. Two or more than two references cited jointly should be arranged chronologically and distinguished from each other by (,) except that the word 'and' should be used between the last two references.
Complete scientific name of the insect with its full name of authority must be given on its first mention. The contributors must ensure the authenticity of current scientific name and authority
Illustrations should be very clear for photographic reproduction. Line drawings and photographs should be separately grouped. Photographs should be of high quality (preferably in glossy print) with sharp details and contrasts. The publication cost of photographs will be charged separately at the prevailing market rates. Small figures should be grouped to fill a page and full-page figure should be larger than 26 x 36 cm.
Review of manuscript -Two referees will review the article and revised article will have to be submitted within 15 days. Any further delay will result in change of date of receipt of article. Any articles without following the format of the journal will not be considered.
