Seed Research is the official scientific publication of the Society, published biannually in print and online formats.
Since its inception in 1973, Seed Research has been devoted to publishing original research papers and review articles in all areas of Seed Science and Technology, including seed production, sampling, testing, enhancement, processing, physiology, entomology, pathology, storage, genetic conservation, habitat regeneration, seed business, plant variety protection, policy issues, and related disciplines.

Seed Research follows a rigorous peer review process to ensure that only high-quality research is published. Peer review is an objective and essential component of scholarly publishing. Our referees play a vital role in maintaining the journal's standards through a transparent and structured review system as outlined below.
Initial Manuscript Evaluation:
All manuscripts received are first evaluated by the Editorial Desk (Chief Editor) for suitability for publication. Articles may be rejected at this stage if they fall outside the aims and scope of the journal, do not conform to the submission guidelines, lack originality, contain serious scientific flaws, or are poorly written in terms of grammar and language. Manuscripts meeting the minimum criteria are sent to two experts in the field for detailed review.
Type of Peer Review:
As Seed Research is a multidisciplinary journal, referees are selected based on their specific expertise. One of the two referees may be a member of the Editorial Board. Referees are asked to assess whether the manuscript is original, methodologically sound, adheres to ethical and author guidelines, presents and interprets results clearly, supports its conclusions effectively, cites relevant prior work appropriately, and uses suitable language.
Review Duration:
The duration of the review process varies depending on the response time of referees but typically does not exceed three weeks. The referee reports, along with their recommendations and comments (often verbatim), are communicated to the authors. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original referees (if required) for further evaluation. Based on the referees’ recommendations, the Chief Editor decides whether to accept, revise, or reject the manuscript. The final editorial decision is then conveyed to the author(s).
Final Report:
A final decision to accept or reject a manuscript is sent to the author along with any recommendations or comments provided by the referees.
Chief Editor's Decision:
Referees provide recommendations to the Chief Editor, who holds the final authority on the acceptance or rejection of all submissions.
Becoming a Referee:
Experts with a proven academic track record in relevant disciplines are chosen from the professional database. Life members of the Indian Society of Seed Technology who have registered (online) with Seed Research may also be considered as referees.
Review Guidelines:
Referees are matched to manuscripts according to their expertise. One referee may be a member of the Editorial Board. Referees are expected to evaluate manuscripts on the following criteria: originality, sound methodology, adherence to ethical and author guidelines, clarity of data analysis and presentation, strength of conclusions, adequacy of references, and appropriateness of language.
Typical Review Period:
The standard time allowed for completing reviews is three weeks.
Seed Research publishes original papers and review articles in all areas of seed science e.g. production, sampling, testing, processing, physiology, entomology, pathology, storage, conservation, marketing, etc. Two issues per year are published. Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts in English at www.isst-india.com, strictly in the format of the Journal. Strict compliance with ethical standards should be practiced before submitting a manuscript. Authors can also send their word file of manuscript and jpeg file of photos and figures through e-mail to ceseedres@gmail.com On receipt of manuscript, an acknowledgement giving the registration number of the paper is sent to the corresponding author. This number should always be quoted while making further enquiry about the manuscript. All correspondence regarding the manuscript should be addressed to the Chief Editor, Indian Society of Seed Technology, A Block, F-5, First Floor, NASC Complex, D.P.S. Marg, IARI P.O., Pusa Campus, New Delhi 110 012.

Manuscript
The title should be short and informative. The name of the authors and the institution where the work was carried out should follow the fitle. Authors should give their E-mail address and postal address. The abstract of not more than 200 words indicating the main findings of the paper should follow. The paper should have the main headings as - Short Title, Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and References.
Periodicals should not be abbreviated.
Tables & figures should be given after the reference section and should not be inserted within the text, but must be referred with data in text. All figures, with proper legends/labels, should be submitted in JPEG format with high resolution quality.
AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT ARECENT ISSUE OF THE ‘Seed Research or VISIT SOCIETY WEBSITE FOR GUIDELINES BEFORE TYPING AND FOLLOW THE FORMAT STRICTLY.
Proofs will be sent to authors for correction. Although every effort is made by the editors to correct the proof, they assume no responsibility for any error that may remain in the final printing.
