The Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition published original papers on research in the fields of animal nutrition, feed technology, feed evolution and conservation, physiological and biochemical aspects including microbiology , biotechnology, feed fodders technology transfer, economics extension and related issues affection feed utilization for health , reproduction and production. The journal is a forum for presenting peer reviewed articles on the basis and applied research. Submission addressing the new frontiers of the subject, including the rapidly emerging area of nutritional genomics, and interface topics as soil plant animal and ecosystem interrelationship and those may be relevant to developing and tropical regions are encouraged. Reviews of the most important specialized literature are also included .the IJAN is published quarterly since its inception in 1983 under the aegis of Animal Nutrition Society of India (ANSI), having about a thousand life members around the world. Aims and Scope
The Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition (IJAN) publishes original papers on research in the fields of animal nutrition, feed technology, feed evaluation and conservation, physiological and biochemical aspects including microbiology, biotechnology, feed and fodders and other relevant areas related to livestock feeding in developing and tropical regions. Papers describing research on given areas for ruminants and non-ruminants are welcome. The Journal is a forum for presenting peer reviewed articles on basic and applied research. Submissions addressing the new frontiers of the subject including emerging areas of nutritional genomics, modelling and interface topics such as soil plant animal and ecosystem interrelationships are given priority. Reviews on specialized topics are also included. The IJAN is published quarterly since its inception in 1983 under the aegis of Animal Nutrition Society of India (ANSI) having about twelve hundred life members around the world. ANSI has instituted two awards to be given to two selected papers published in the Journal during the biennial conferences.

Guidelines For Author (S)
Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition (IJAN) is published in English four times per year(March, June, September and December) by the Animal Nutrition Society of India(ANSI). The original manuscript should be submitted online at
Covering Letter
Manuscripts are accepted for publication in the Journal with the understanding that the contents have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. This must be stated in the covering letter. Any experiments involving animals must be demonstrated to be ethically acceptable for usage in the research.
Type and Submission of Manuscripts
The journal accepts original research papers(upto 6000 words), review papers(upto 8500 words), short communications (upto 2500 words) and book reviews (upto 300 words). Manuscripts should be written professionally and legibly. The Editor or the Publisher reserves the right to modify typescripts to avoid ambiguity, repetition and improve communication between author (s) and readers. If extensive alterations are required, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision.
Acceptance
The acceptance criteria for all manuscripts are the quality and originality of the research and its significance to our readership. Except where otherwise stated, manuscripts are peer reviewed by one/two anonymous reviewers. If a manuscript is returned to the author for revision, it must be resubmitted within two weeks. Please do not forget to mention the manuscript number in all correspondence. Improper and unsatisfactory revision of the article may attract rejection. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Editorial Board, the Chief Editor being the final authority and no correspondence will be entertained.

It is implied that author/co-author of the article submitted is aware of the research reported and concurs with the results or conclusions. The opinion and inference given in the article is of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editors or Editorial board of the Journal.
Main Format
Submission should be typed in double space using compatible MS word format. The top, bottom and side margins should be 30 mm. All the pages of the article should be numbered consecutively in the bottom-centerbeginning with the title pageand line-numbered continuously for quick review process.
Style
The Journal uses spellings according to the latest edition of Oxford or Chamber's Dictionary. All measurements must be given in SI units. Abbreviations should be used sparingly and only where they ease the reader's task by reducing repetition of long technical terms. Initially, use the word in full followed by the abbreviation in parenthesis. Thereafter, use the abbreviation. Upon its first use in the title, abstract and text, the common name of a species should be followed by the scientific name (Genus, species and authority) in parenthesis. However, for well-known species, the scientific name may be omitted from the article title. If no common name exists in English, the scientific name should only be used. At the first mention of a chemical substance, give the generic name only. The words like in vivo, in vitro, ad lib. etc. should be in italics. Trade names should not be used or avoided. Drugs should be referred to by their generic names rather than brand names.
Parts of The Manuscript
Manuscripts should be prepared in following order: (1) TITLE PAGE, (2) ABSTRACT and Key words (3) INTRODUCTION (4) MATERIALS AND METHODS (5) RESULTS AND DISCUSSION (6) CONCLUSION (7) ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (s), if any (8) REFERENCES (9) TABLES (each table complete with title and footnotes) and (10) FIGURES. Except Title, all the major heads should be typed in CAPITAL LETTERS
Title Page
The title page should contain (i) the title of the paper MAY BE TYPED IN TITLE CASE (Capitalise each word except helping verbs) along with SHORT TITLE (ii) the names of the authors (iii) the addresses of the institutions where the work was carried out together with (iv) the full postal and E-mail address telephone number of the corresponding author. The title should be short, informative and contain the major key words. The title should be as (Example): Lactation Performance of Sahiwal Cows Fed Varying Levels of Energy in the Diet
Abstract and Key Words
Article must have a structured abstract that summarizes within 300 words, the purpose, basic procedures, main findings and principal conclusions of the study. Abstract should not contain abbreviations or references. Minimum three and maximum five key words representing the study should be given below the abstract in alphabetical order for the purpose of indexing.
Introduction
The introduction should start on a new page following the abstract. It must rationalize the research objective with a concise review of the latest literature, highlighting the gap in knowledge, and specify the main purpose of the study. The introduction should be brief, appealing with less than 200 words.
Materials and Methods
A clear depiction or specific original reference is required for all biochemical, biological, analytical and statistical procedures used in the experiment. Routine and widely used procedures may not be presented in detail, a simple cite of that reference should suffice. Modification(s) of the method, if any, should be briefly mentioned. Information on design of experiment, animals used, feeding schedule, analytical techniques, ethical committee approval, statistical models etc. must be narrated.
Results and Discussion
Results and discussion should be presented in simple and understandable form. The discussion should interpret the results clearly and concisely and should integrate literature with the present research findings to provide the reader with a broad base on which to accept or reject the hypothesis tested. The discussion could end by presenting the implications of the findings.
Sub-Headings
Under MATERIALS AND METHODS & RESULTS AND DISCUSSION section, authors may use Sub-headings at the left margin as a separate line with normal sentence case with only the first letter capitalized and followed by no punctuation. The discussion section should infer the results and integrate previous findings and the rationale with the present research data to provide a comprehensive understanding.
Conclusion
The conclusion should be concise, based firmly on outcome of the study and restricted to two or three sentences only, keeping in mind the objectives of the study. Based on the outcome of present study, recommending the future line of work is appreciated.
Acknowledgement
Authors are responsible for crediting and mentioning the names of individual(s) who have made substantial contributions to the study or Institutions which has provided facility and financial support to the work.
References
References in the text should be cited either Mishra (2020) or (Mishra, 2020; Khan et al., 2010) or Khan etal. (2010); Sharma and Verma (2015) or (Sharma and Verma, 2015). Multiple references, when quoted in for single statement, must be arranged chronologically in ascending order. The references in the bibliography should be listed alphabetically adopting the style given below:

Tables
Tables should be self-contained and should not duplicate the information contained in the text. Tables should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numericals. Each table should be presented on a separate sheet of A4 paper with a comprehensive but concise legend above the table. Tables should be brief with units of measurement in parentheses. All abbreviations should be defined in footnotes. Footnote symbols 1,2,3, should be used (in that order) and *,** should be reserved for P-values. The table and its legends/footnotes should be understandable without reference to the text.Lengthy and big tables should be avoided and such articles will be returned for modification.Diet composition and digestibility data must be in percentage (%). Energy measurements (GE/DE/ME/NE) should be kcal/g or Mcal/kg.
Figures
All illustrations (line drawings and photographs) are classified as figures. Figures should be cited in consecutive order in the text. Figures should be sized to fit within the column (82 mm). intermediate (110 mm) or the full text width (17 mm). Graphics should be prepared using applications capable of generating high resolution. i.e. GIV, TIFF, JPEG or PPT format before posting in the MS word manuscript file.
Figure Legends
Legends should be self-explanatory and typed on a separate sheet. The legend should incorporate definitions of any symbols used and all abbreviations and units of measurement should be explained so that the figure and its legend is understandable without reference to the text. Authors must provide a letter stating that copyright authorization has been obtained, if figures have been reproduced from another source.
Reprints
The journal has no page charges and the corresponding author will be provided with PDF-soft copy of the published article, which shall be shared among the co-authors.
Publication Certificate
All the articles submitted to the Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition must be accompanied by a Publication certificate as per below format and signed by either the principal author / corresponding author or all the authors.
It is certified that the article entitled “ ……………………………..” is the original research work conducted and it has not been submitted elsewhere for publication. Names of all those who have contributed significantly have been suitably acknowledged.
