Ethics & Malpractice

Publication Ethics

Publication ethics and malpractice statement of Educational Quest: International Journal of Education and Applied Social Science was devised purely following the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Some of the important factors regarding publishing ethics and malpractice handling is described here, however, authors and editors are advised to go through the complete COPE documentation for more details.

I. DUTIES OF EDITORS

Editorial Independence

Articles submitted to the journals will be evaluated based on its qualifying factors of originality of the word, validity, applications, etc. and it should come under the purview of the scope of the journal. No other than the academic and intellectual credit of the article or author will be considered for selecting the article for publication. No gender, ethnicity, country of origin, religion, political ideology, affiliation, etc. would be considering factors for selection. Editor-in-chief is with full freedom over the content of the journal he/she is free to decide when to publish.

Confidentiality

Editor-in-chief or the members of editorial board of the journal will be bound to respect the Confidentiality of the content submitted. No details of article will be shared anyone except for reviewing and publishing purpose.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Editor-in-chief, members of editorial board and reviewers will not use the content submitted to the journal for publication for his/her academic or research benefit unless written consent is received from the concerned author(s). Journal editors will take help of the other reviewers or outside editorial services if the content of the article conflicts with their idealism.

Decision to publish

Every article submitted in the journal will undergo at least two blind peer review process and the review comments intended for authors will be shared accordingly. The editor-in-chief has full authority to decide the content for publication and he will exercise his power looking at the validity and relevancy of the study for wider societal application.

Handling of ethical issues

Editor-in-chief and members of editorial board will provide full cooperation in all cases related to ethics in publishing. Any sort of unethical publishing will be rigidly monitored. If any case is reported even long after the publication of the content and the unethical thread is established, the editor will publish a note of correction, retraction, expression of concern, etc. in the journal.

II. DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

Editorial decision making factor

Peer reviewers assist editors to select and finalize the articles for publication. In a way they are helping the decision making process of editorial board of journals. Peer reviewers are expected to act as a decision making drivers while they review the articles.

Honest and swiftness

Reviewers who feel that they won't be able to review the content being out of knowledge area or some other reason should intimate to the editor immediately. Editor will find suitable alternate reviewer for the content submitted.

Objectivity and sharp observation

Reviewers are expected to be highly integrated with objectivity while reviewing. The observation they make from the articles should be substantiated with evidences so that the original author(s) can improve the article accordingly.

Similarity and source knowledge

It is the duty of the reviewer to inform the editor about the known source from where the manuscript has extracted some portions. Reviewers are expected to check the source rigorously and suggest to include any relevant study in the article.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

The reviewer will not use the content of the article submitted for peer review for his own academic or any other benefit. Ideas got from the reviewed article will not be shared or used for personal benefit until the article is published. If the content of the article is conflicting with the idealism of the reviewer he/she should report to the editor for change of reviewer.

III. DUTIES OF AUTHORS

Standard of writing

Authors should present the research or work conducted in a systematic manner so as to understand by the audience very easily. The article should contain adequate references and sufficient reviews with proper citation as per the journal recommended referencing style. False, incomplete and unethical expression should be avoided.

Accessibility to data

Author(s) should provide access to raw or processed data on which the result of the study is built and expressed in the article Author (s) is bound to provide the data to any competent authority for proving his/her notion of findings. Author(s) may take help of subject based data repositories or data centers for this purpose.

Originality and plagiarism

Author should make sure that the content submitted for publication is the original work without extracting from any other published works. If any work is referred then the proper citation should be given to that work. Plagiarism in any manner is totally unethical and unacceptable.

Concurrent submission/publication

Author should refrain from submitting the same article to different journals at the same time or get the same article published in two or more different journals. The content which was already published in one journal should not be published in another unless total changes in the result or data occurred over a period of time or because of the effect of various other influencing factors.

Authorship

Only the person who makes the major contribution in the article should act as the principle author and the people who have contributed intellectual input not amounting to the principal author can also be the authors of article. It is the duty of the corresponding author to ensure all coauthors are correct and no inappropriate coauthors are listed in the author section of the article before final publication.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

It is expected from the author to submit a disclosure at the time of submitting the article that the interpretation or result of the study may conflict with the interest of people, believe, tradition, etc., if any. Author must disclose information about grant or financial aid received from any funding agencies or any other source.

Peer review process

Authors are expected to cooperate with the peer review process and modify the article according to the suggestions made by the reviewer (s). Author will have full rights to refute any suggestion made by the reviewer and counter with proper evidence.

IV. DUTIES OF PUBLISHER

Dealing with unethical publishing

In case of any unethical publishing happened, publisher will take necessary measure to rectify after appraising the situation with the help of editors or any other external agencies. The publisher will publish erratum portion, clarification, retraction, etc. appropriately in the journal.

Conflict-Of-Interest

A conflict-of-interest statement is required for all article and study types. In the interests of transparency and helping reviewers to assess any potential bias in a study's design, interpretation of it results or presentation of its scientific/medical content, the New Delhi Publishing Group (New Delhi Publisher) requires all authors of each paper to declare any conflicting interests (including but not limited to commercial, personal, political, intellectual, or religious interests) in the title page that are related to the work submitted for consideration of publication. In addition, reviewers are required to indicate any potential conflicting interests they might have related to any particular paper they are asked to review, and a copy of signed statement should be provided to the New Delhi Publisher in PDF format.

Sample wording: [Name of individual] has received fees for serving as a speaker, a [position; such as consultant and/or an advisory board member] for [name(s) of organization(s)]. [Name of individual] has received research funding from [name(s) of organization(s)]. [Name of individual] is an employee of [name(s) of organization(s)]. [Name of individual] owns stocks and/or shares in [name(s) of organization(s)]. [Name of individual] owns patent [patent identifier information (including patent number, two-letter country code, and kind code) and a brief description].

Author Guidelines


  1. Manuscripts should be typed in English and should be submitted along with an abstract not more than 250 words. The length of a paper including tables, diagrams, illustrations etc. should be between 4000 to 6000 words. Papers/articles should be original and unpublished contribution. Paper should be accompanied by a declaration that the material is original, has not been published elsewhere in part or full and the same has not been submitted for publication in any other book or journal or elsewhere. Electronic copy must be sent to the following E-mail addresses: shireeshsingh1982@gmail.com; bishnudash2006@gmail.com, Articles must be in MS-Word in Times New Roman with font size 12. Articles/ papers not accepted for publication will not be returned.

  2. Short communication to review articles, report of conferences, summary or views on government reports, debatable issues etc. are also published.

  3. Authors/Publishers are also welcome to send books or book review to the Editor for the publication in the journal.

  4. The paper once submitted to this journal should not be resubmitted simultaneously to other journals ofelse when for consideration.

  5. All papers Accepted for Publication by Chief Editors to the journal will be the property of, New Delhi Publishers New Delhi.

  6. To ensure anonymity, the author’s name, designation, affiliation, official and residential address and other details about author should only appear on the first page along with the title of the paper, second page should start with the title of paper, followed by text.

  7. Footnotes in the text should be numbered consecutively in plain Arabic superscripts. All the footnotes, if any, should be typed under the heading ‘Footnotes’ at the end of the paper immediately after ‘Conclusion’.

  8. Bibliographical references should be arranged alphabetically and should be given at the end of the text in the APA Format

  9. The Editorial Board Reserve the Right for Modification the Paper.
